Some of the children cared for by the Centre are now living in the new accommodation block.
However, because the Centre is located outside the town, it is off-grid, and we are working with Misthy and others to help establish a power system that does not rely solely on a diesel generator, but makes use of solar energy. (See the News section for details of funding assistance that we have received.)
We are currently looking into sources of funding that will help us to set up this system which makes use of renewable energy sources.
In addition, the school at the Centre opened in September 2009, where a number of the children are educated, and it will generate income for the Centre from fee-paying pupils from the town.
